My journey as an author has been long and arduous. Through the years I’ve learned much and with each new book I’ve gotten better and closer to my dream: a book deal. I thought it might be interesting to show this journey in terms of a book timeline, so here it is…

Interesting facts
Writing for: 12 years
Book I wrote the slowest: Book #1 — 26 months!
Book I wrote the fastest: Book #6 — The Guys are Props Club — 22 days!
Book to get a 1st traditional contract: Book #4 — Ignite The Shadows
Book that got me an agent: Book #4 — Ignite The Shadows
Days to get an agent after traditional offer: 5 days!
You’ve probably heard that patience in publishing pays off. It was certainly the case for me. This timeline illustrates the many years of hard work it can take to get a traditional contract, as well as the speed with which things can happen when preparation meets opportunity. If you’re still trying to reach your publishing dreams keep fighting. They do come true!

Hi Ingrid :o)
Congrats on the agent and publishing deal, well done. Super happy for you.
It was interesting to see your journey laid out in a timeline, thank you for sharing. I completed my first manuscript earlier this year – January. It’s been quite a journey already, so much to learn and get your head around. A path no doubt, I’ll be on for quite a while longer :o) This year, I’ve focused on editing and hopefully, the ms is ready for me to leave well alone for a while. I’m in the process of writing my second book, a continuation from book one and have another three that I want to write. So hopefully, by the fourth, I’ll be ready for traditional, lol. We’ll see.
Wishing you all the best.
Trace :o)
Hi, Trace.
Thank you and congrats to you to on finishing you first manuscript and working on a second! For me that was the key, I just kept writing and learning. Each book taught me something new. You might do better and get it before the 4th book 😉 I’ve become convinced that for me this is a battle royal! Nothing easy comes my way, lol.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting!!!
