Tell us Sanovia, what inspired you to start blogging?
My love of books. Knowing that there were like minded individuals like myself that love books and the joy that they bring. Plus since I’m the only one in my family that’s a reader it’s good to know that I can join a community that feels the same way that I do about books and the rock star authors that make them.
What is your favorite YA sub-genre and why?
Fantasy is my all-time favorite genre. Been reading it since I first picked up a Terry Brooks book. The Shannara Trilogy is one of my favorites. Let’s face it me and the real world don’t get along all that well so it’s fun to imagine.
Is there a book or series that inspired you to read YA?
I guess I would have to go with the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowling is the only author that I can think of that did a great job of transitioning a series from middle grade to young adult.
You have a passion for advocating diversity in books, tell us a bit about your favorite YA books with diverse characters and what you like about these books?
Oh my goodness this is such a tough question. There are some many books with diverse characters. So many books written by diverse authors but I would have to go with The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. So beautifully written with a dynamic cast of diverse characters. All around great storytelling. This book doesn’t come out until 2016. Also I would have to go with Sabaa Tahir An Ember in the Ashes. Beautiful book with beautiful character and exceptional world building. And let’s not forget Shadowshaper by Daniel Jose Older. A unique urban fantasy YA book that mixes culture with fantasy that makes a fantastic read. Plus that cover is gorgeous.
What book would you like all your blog followers to read and why?
Hands down Storm Siren by Mary Weber. This series is so good. Highly underrated. Wish more would read.
Would you share with us a unique experience you’ve had due to blogging?
Another great question that is tough to answer but I would have to say meeting other book lovers via social media. Being a part of the book community that values books the same way I do. Also talking and chatting with authors. Including yourself. I mean Indie authors are some of the sweetest people in the world. They really care about what their fans think. Not saying that traditionals don’t care but you pretty much have to be a popular book blogger or booktuber to get their attention. At least when it comes to the big popular authors. Just my opinion
