#AwesomeYABloggers Post #005
Time to give a little love back to some of the wonderful young adult book bloggers out there. This Wednesday, I want you to meet Jess Watkins from A Book Addict’s Bookshelves. Her blog has fantastic reviews for your favorite YA reads, giveaways and more. Check it out, if you haven’t yet. Also read on for a chance to win one of Jess’s favorite YA books.
Name: Jess Watkins
Website: A Book Addict’s Bookshelves
Date of First Blog Post: 2nd January 2013
Best place to find her: Twitter – @snowglobe10
Tell us Jess, what inspired you to start blogging?
I originally started my blog to promote my debut novel but then I began to post reviews and blitzes and it grew from there.
What is your favorite YA sub-genre and why?
Probably fantasy or dystopian because I love the wide variety of worlds that you can immerse yourself in.
Is there a book or series that inspired you to read YA?
I don’t think I consciously decided to read YA but The Hunger Games was probably the first YA book I read.
You are also an author, how do you balance blogging and working on your books?
I usually do a bit of blogging every night and I try to write every night as well but that doesn’t always happen, especially when I get to a point in the plot where I’m not sure what’s going to happen (I’m a pantser)
What book would you like all your blog followers to read and why?
Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. It’s my favourite book and Jasper Fforde is my favourite author. The world that Fforde has created is unique and so clever it just sucks you in. I adore his books.
Would you share with us a unique experience you’ve had due to blogging?
Well if it wasn’t for blogging I wouldn’t have gone to YALC this year. I had so much fun and really enjoyed the panels.
Rapid Fire Questions
Coolest swag you ever received?
Bookmarks are always good and tote bags.
Most prized signed book copy?
Hmm it’s a tie between Flight by Lindsay Leggett and my signed copies of The Bone Season and The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon. Samantha was lovely when I met her.
On average, how many books do you read a year?
Over the past few years I’ve started reading more so it’s increased a lot. Last year I read 160 books.
And this is what we all really want to know: who is your favorite book boyfriend?
It’s got to be Finnick Odair from The Hunger Games trilogy. I love Sam Clafin as him in the films.
